- Make your own tamales and tortillas at home. It’s fun and easy with authentic corn masa, a flavorful stone ground cornmeal that’s been precooked with limewater to make the dough pliable. Masa is also wonderful in recipes that call for cornmeal.
Perfect to use! My first attempt at tamales (all organic, no lard) were a hit! I mix half white and yellow Masa. I followed the recipe on the back and substituted the olive oil for organic safflower oil. Perfect!!!
You get really nice, soft tortillas with this flour. Can't beat this price for organic masa. I mix with boiling water, salt and a bit of olive oil. For best results, let it rest a little before making the tortillas.
Once you've had tortillas made from this flour, you will never want for any other. Exceptional in flavor and texture. Easy to use and cooks up nicely on a comal.
Very easy to work with, completely satisfied with the flavor and grind! I added this to my subscribe and save! It was fun to make bolitas, gorditas, tortillas and then enjoy eating them! Try it!
It was very difficult to find organic Masa. Not available anywhere local, which I thought was unusual being the land of Red and Green Chilies and Tamales. But as usual we can find it on ! We actually bought this to make arepas, a South American type of bread/tortilla that is wonderful! This masa smells very fresh and somehow more 'corny' than non-organic. The taste was also very fresh. I would recommend it and I will buy it again.
